Tyler Bailey Commits to Cal State San Marcos

Senior Guard Tyler Bailey has committed to Cal State San Marcos, becoming their first high school commit for the 2026 class. Bailey who has been on the 17u team since his sophomore year, became one of the biggest stock risers in Northern California last summer. This would come after he sat half of his junior season out at Serra High School (San Mateo, CA) due to the high school transfer rules.

Sitting out half the year and also not starting allowed Bailey to go into last AAU season under the radar. Bailey wasn’t ranked in the top 40 in Northern California in his own class by different scouting services. However, this didn’t stop him from working to get better & proving it on the court. Bailey would have a few breakout games in the spring including his best performance against the Factory (Arizona) who won the Puma NXT 17u championship. His confidence grew & so did his recruitment.

Tyler received a scholarship offer from every level in order. His first offer would come from a D3, followed by NAIA, and eventually his first & only D2 offer would come from Cal State San Marcos. Bailey would also gain traction from Division 1 schools but no official offer. With the commitment to Cal State San Marcos, Bailey is in position to possibly compete for minutes as a freshman & continue his trajectory to becoming a complete player.
